Therapeutic massage is designed to help you relax from day-to-day stress, to help you sleep better, and to give you a greater sense of wellbeing.
Therapeutic massage reduces muscle tightness, removes muscle knots, and improves circulation. Techniques include Swedish massage as well as deep tissue work. People are often familiar with Swedish massage techniques, including the long, relaxing strokes that can use light, moderate, or deep pressure. Other techniques focus on flowing movements or releasing trigger points- tiny knots in muscles.
This is the type of massage for you if generally feel well, but are looking for preventive and maintenance care.
How often do I need a massage?
One massage cannot, unfortunately, fix all your aches and pains- although we wish it could! It’s often best to find a massage schedule that will work for you. Perhaps you’ll book a massage whenever you’re feeling stressed. Most people, though, find it difficult to remember to take care of themselves, especially when stressed!
If you have a specific issue that you’d like to work on, a massage every one to three weeks should help you make a lot of progress quickly. If you don’t have anything specific that is bothering you, then a massage every four to eight weeks should help you maintain your health.
