Chiropractic care and Massage Therapy are both non invasive and alternative forms of caring for ourselves. Seeing a Chiropractor regularly or a Massage Therapist can benefit you and your discomforts. Seeing both of these providers continuously will add to the value of each one. Both of these forms of healthcare greatly compliment each other when being done to one or more ailments.
Chiropractic care focuses on the nervous system and the musculoskeletal system. The main goal for this type of care is to be sure there are no structural restrictions within the body to allow the nerves, spinal cord, and brain to communicate effectively. With a strong focus on the causes and effects of the body’s alignment it only makes sense that massage would compliment it.
Once the body is adjusted by a Chiropractor, a Massage Therapist can work muscle restrictions and firing patterns of different muscles. This will allow the body to accept the adjustment without hesitation. Massage can also be done before adjustments to warm up the body to allow it to receive the structural corrections. Massage Therapy focuses on muscles and fascia to allow the natural alignment of the body to take place.
All of the systems of the body are effected by both types of treatment. Both forms of therapies have similar intentions, to create space in the body and to aid the healing process, but different approaches. Seeing both a Massage Therapist and a Chiropractor is, in my opinion, one of the best types of care you can give your body and brain. It is also beneficial to always get more than one professional opinion when it comes to any form of discomfort in your life. Always remember that any form of healing session is all about you. It is important to feel comfortable and cared for with whomever you are working with.
