Potentials and Possibilities
I have always been fascinated by stories of the hidden abilities and untapped potentials of the human mind and body. Stories of people learning to see with their hands or walking through walls captivated me. The human body is like a giant treasure box, with all its gems and jewels waiting to be discovered.
In my early 20s, my mother introduced me to the community at a Taoist & Buddhist center. I had been wondering for almost two decades if there was actual truth behind the legends and the folklore, and I was not disappointed. What I saw there opened my eyes. I noticed extra-sensory abilities in the regular-seeming people around me, who were simply practicing an uncomplicated walking meditation. I now know that those abilities are within all of us, if we can open ourselves to them.
Instead of satiating my curiosity, my experience at the spiritual center encouraged me to explore the body and mind even more deeply. I decided to delve into Chinese Medicine as one avenue to better understand the inner workings of the human body. I now direct my intuition- the unfolding of those special abilities I admire- towards helping others heal themselves through acupuncture.
Exploring and Learning
My favorite training included Trigger Point Therapy and Sports Medicine. I practiced at the CU Sports Clinic treating college athletes.
I also completed an internship at the Boulder County AIDS Project. The symptoms of AIDS are complex and multi-faceted. I had to consider the interactions of multiple systems, co-morbid conditions, and more. I enjoyed Chinese Medicine’s ability to simplify these very complex systems and consistently provide relief and respite care.
Treating and Healing
Over the last few years, many talented teachers with big hearts shared their wisdom with me. I found new ways of looking at and effecting change within the body. It is standing on their shoulders that I offer treatments tailored to each individual. My goal is to help everyone experience the greatest vitality, health, and joy possible.
